So let me get this straight…
Forestry Tasmania – a division of the Tasmanian state government – is threatening to force bankrupcy on Bob Brown on the issue of unpaid fees awarded by the courts. They are doing this knowing that bankruptcy will force the Clark of the Senate to expel Senator Brown from his elected position. The courts awarded these fees in a case which is directly related to Bob Brown’s platform – the environment.
It is my understanding that the fees awarded to Forestry Tasmania were not for defamation, they were simple legal costs, and there has been no allegation of wrongdoing.
So in the act of vigourously defending his elected platform, as all politicians should do, the Tasmanian state government is now manipulating the system to force the expulsion of a democratically elected member of the Senate???
How on earth is this possible in an Australian Democracy?
